@Tibor Korocz (Percona), @C W, what if we add the information to some separated metric like mysql_version_info (or a new one). Will this help with usage, or will it be complicated to use several metrics to get one label?
p.s. adding new label to existed one is not a problem of performance (as this will be the same time series), it will just complicate reading metrics because of lot of labels (we adding a lot of our levels too )

Scenario
I have numerous instances to configure alerts for and there is no standard path, but I want to be able to have a specific alert for the datadir of the service (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB)
Problem
I cannot restrict the mountpoint for an alert as I have no way to look it up
Suggestion
Provide
datadir
as part of the metric for relevant services, allowing it to be used in an expression
