Using 'tee' in my.cnf confuses pt-mysql-summary

Description

Add 'tee=automatic.txt' to any ~/.my.cnf file for [client] Then run pt-mysql-summary:

in my case adding  'tee=automatic.txt' to any ~/.my.cnf file or the main my.cnf  under [client] section resulting into the following error,

Not sure what I'm missing?
