When I have a situation where my slow log is growing faster than pt-index-usage can process, the process never finishes.

It is relatively easy to reproduce using long_query_time=0 and sysbench.

Adding a timeout parameter might be a good idea.

Also, with SYS schema available, it might be more interesting to extract these statistics Possibly a bigger upgrade but it is an interesting idea.
