The feature was finished and ported to PS:

Upstream started work on this feature but it is still incomplete. See https://github.com/facebook/mysql-5.6/commit/43a78199188ce46c857e420ab6ed75f8c6b0c9c8 which will be null cherry-picked in. This patch can be re-applied once upstream completes work and enables the functionality.

As discussed I'm reporting here also to track upstream issue.
Once you create column family and destroy all resources that use it it seems there's no way to remove it.
